About Lauren
Lauren began her journey as a yoga teacher in 2005 after spending time in both India and Australia, studying and practicing yoga. In 2011, she qualified as a clinical psychologist and since then she has worked in both South Africa and England with people living with complex mental health conditions.
She has seen first-hand that talk therapy can be an incredibly powerful tool, but a few years ago she felt drawn to expanding her understanding of therapeutic modalities. Because of her years of experience with yoga, she was eager to find a model that incorporated the wisdom of the body and acknowledged the intimate connection between the mind and body. She found that in kinesiology.
What is kinesiology?
Kinesiology is a non-invasive and gentle complementary therapy which helps restore balance to your energy system. Energy moves through our bodies via meridians (energy pathways). Each meridian is associated with specific muscles, organs and systems. When energy is not flowing correctly through a meridian it can impact our physical and mental health. During a session a kinesiologist will use a technique known as muscle-testing or muscle-monitoring to pick up any imbalances in the meridians and then use various techniques to bring the meridian back into balance. In this way kinesiology helps to restore balance to your energy system and provides relief from physical and mental health symptoms.
What can I expect from a kinesiology session?
A typical kinesiology session lasts around 60 minutes (except for the initial session which lasts approximately 90 minutes). For most of the session you will be lying comfortably on your back on a massage table, however at times the kinesiologist may ask you to sit up or lie on your side. The kinesiologist may touch you gently on your arms, legs, torso and head. It’s best to wear something loose and comfortable. Many people report experiencing a change after the first session, however if you have come for help with a complex issue it may take a few sessions before you notice a change.
What does it cost?
The initial session is £50 and all further sessions are £45. If you purchase three sessions upfront the fee is £120 (this is a £20 discount). Payment can be made with cash, card or by bank transfer.
Sessions cancelled within a 24-hour period (except in extenuating circumstances) will be liable for a 50% cancellation fee.
