Sciatica and
Trapped
Nerve Pain

Individual nerves exit from each level of the spine and branch off to supply muscles and organs throughout the body. It is very possible for these nerves to become irritated or compressed anywhere along their course. This can result in symptoms associated with the specific nerve e.g. pain down arms or legs, numbness, tingling, weakness or muscle wastage.

Sciatica is the most common spinal nerve entrapment and can range in level of intensity. It is often caused by a disc herniation or degenerative joint change, which encroaches on the nerve as it comes out of the lower lumbar spine. At Staplehurst Chiropractic, we take the time to properly assess suspected nerve entrapments to understand where exactly the issue lies. We provide expert diagnosis and treatment in dealing with it and if further investigation is necessary we provide the appropriate referral. Using chiropractic and additional techniques to reduce pressure off nerves, we have great outcomes in treating conditions such as sciatica. In combination with hands on treatment, we give advice and prescribe daily exercises, so the condition can be managed effectively whilst at home, allowing the body to heal and regenerate.
